Memorial Saverio Occhi 2013, Val Grande

A little late I finally got around fixin' up some shots taken during the "Saverio Occhi" memorial held on the 1st of September 2013 at the omonimous Mountain Hut "Capanna Saverio Occhi" in Val Grande, Brescia.

The whole thing started with a Ton of "Trippa" that cooked overnight, followed by a load of singing, drinking, Praying, playing, and just enjoying the incredible outdoors of this hidden and less known corner of the Italian Alps.

At 27 years of age Saverio was indeed a promise for the Climbing Community, he tragically died in 1992 during an ascent at the Western Lyskamm on the North eastern Face.  (Monte Rosa). He left a legacy made of people that loved him and still care to this day. 

The hut was rebuilt and dedicated to his memory. He is also mentioned in the new Documentary directed and produced by Marco Preti in "Compagni Di Cordata" presented only a few weeks ago.

5 Euro per night, 2,50 euro to use the kitchen and Gas, 5 euro to make use of the wood for the fire.
